I do not care what connectror it uses (3 pin MB or 4PIN power supply cconnector) I run an antec blue LED fan plugged into the motherbaord. It is too loud, I think it is 30dba.

Which brand and type is the most quiet?

Well, you can have quiet, you can have 80mm and you can have fan .. but all three together is going to be a 15 cfm fan worth dumping in the trashbin.

However, if you cannot in any way get more mm, you will have to go with a 80/ poor you.

For quiet questions, I believe the best reference I've come across so far is SPCR :

Forgot to add this : search for the Fan round up's.

Antec built an awsome case in all other aspects, but I don't know what drugs they were on when they made it 80mm x 4. How about 120mm x2, just makes more sense. Not able to modd without making it hacked up.

A year ago I upgraded all my 80mm fans for "silence"(not silent, but much quieter). All went well until I upgrade my 4850 to a 5870 and proceeded to carry on with my GPU crunching. Within minutes my CPU and Motherboard were overheating. So I suspended the Crunching and it literally took > hour for my system to get back to normal Temps. That's how I found out about the downside of my desire for silence. It's a trade off between Noise and Airflow.

For now I await a new Case with 120mm, because it is the only way to get both. If I was more on the ball a year ago, I probably should have taken the money I spent on fans($50-75 IIRC) and just bought a new Case in the same price range that used 120mm fans and had a few included.

Might be time for a new case. Noctua reputedly moves the most air with the least noise. The price for four 80mm Noctua or Enermax T. B. Silence or Nexus .. (mostly reviews of 120mm's or larger).
Some 80mm X 38mm at reduced speed might move sufficent air quietly. Might not.
There are some 92mm with 50 mm mount holes if not too close tgether.
Antec 300 goes on sale abou $60 shipped. bye bye $ A better CPU cooler with two fans ...

From what I've tested, the Noiseblocker Blacknoise M8-S3 80mm has a very good airflow to noise ratio.

Low speed Panaflos are always a safe bet, but they definitely won't move much air. I've tried Medium/High/Ultra Speeds and using a rheobus to lower the speeds, but they're all pretty close to using a Low speed at 100%.

S-Flex is decent. I have the SFF80D at around 7V and they're quiet, but still worse than the Noiseblocker I linked.

I have the Enermax Magma Twister as well, but haven't tested it yet lol.

If you're willing to dump the cash, I think the Noiseblockers are the best. However, like others have mentioned at 4x$18 (more with tax/shipping) you can easily buy a new case that uses 120mm fans. That's not to say the stock 120mm fans are any good; they're sufficient if you want to be save money and don't care about airflow and noise.

EDIT: Wanted to point that I tested the Silverstone 80mm linked by the previous poster since it is the stock fan in the Silverstone Sugo SG03. They're ok, but don't push that much air.

Have had awful experiences with Scythe S-flexes. I bought the SFF80A (1000rpm) and they deteriorated very quickly. Scythe RMAed them for me, but could only replace with the 2800rpm SFF80D. These were hideous even at lower voltages-worse than stock Antec Tricool fans. I may have just gotten bad batches both times but if that is the case then their QC is pretty awful.

I'm curious about the Yate Loons so @aigo would be interested in some feedback comparing against Noctua NF-R8 which is my 80mm fan of choice.

edit: noticed that Yate Loons seems to be sleeved. Guess that rules them out for top exhaust?

There are ball bearing Yate Loon fans, I've been buying some 120mm Alienware D12BL12, but have not located any 80mm on the web.
Nexus, Panaflow high speed, Noctua, Gelid, are all choices.
I would probably try four Yate Loon and if the temps are good consider reducing speed. Sleeve Yates have a good rep.
