need a quick answer.... is this possible? (an overclocking story)

ok i am not much of an overclocker in my 5 years as a pc user... but i am pretty sure this guy i know is trying to feed me the biggest wad of BS. basically, he told me he o/c'ed his dual 1800ghz xp rig to 2.8ghz. i'm like "r u adding the total clockspeed of the two cpus?" and he's like no... i o/c'ed them. he said he's using water cooling and has like a billion fans. i'm thinking it's a 747 engine blowing on the cpu.

EDIT - just for the hell of it, i also asked him "r u talking pr rating, or actual clockspeed?" he said it's actual clockspeed.

XPs are made on 0.18 micron technology and that technology has its limits at ~2.4-2.5 Ghz (max...extreme limit). In Most cases...~2.2 Ghz but no way 2.80 Ghz.

Heck...even AMD doesnt has a 2.80 Ghz cpu right now.....he is giving you some serious BS.

EDIT: The newer TBred are made on 0.13 micron.

yeah i was kinda feelin' the same way. i looked on overclockers.com cpu database and no one even comes close to 2.8ghz with an amd chip. funny thing... after he confirmed it was 2.8ghz... i'm like "what are u using for cooling? liquid nitrogen?" he was like "no, just water cooling and some fans".... yeah, ok.

he probably has a 2200+ (1.8ghz) and o/ced it to 2800+ (2.2ghz) if ANYTHING. when he boots up, it could say 2800, and that's all he needs to see

oh trust me... i did ask him whether it was pr rating or clockspeed. he thought for a sec and said its clockspeed. man... u guys would laugh so hard at some the BS i hear... this 2.8ghz xp being one of them.

Liquid Nitrogen ? I doubt if taking that system to Pluto would make it run at 2.80 Ghz.... it just wont do it...not even if you give it 100v with Pluto (planet) cooling
