I'm here to buy a stand alone DVD player for cheap. I didn't get the chance to do my research and I quickly ask for your help!

1. Best DVD player for $50~ (Cheaper the better)
2. Progressive Scan: does it make any diff. on a conventional non-HD TV?
3. What are some key features that are important in a DVD player?
4. What spec. model do you recommend?

I'm at the mall and accessible stores are: Target, Bestbuy, Circuit City, Staples, Sears and more!

buy the philips that plays divx/xvid

target, bestbuy should carry it. maybe circuit city too.

Buy something cheap like Apex or Pioneer.

Use a good cc which will give you a FREE 1 year extended warranty.
