i've got an imac that has os x panther on it... the primary account has a password on it that i don't know... it was never given to me when inherited it. the second account is an "any user" account.

when i sign into the "any user" account, i put my mac os x tiger disc in and it does nothing... except spit the disc back out after a couple attempts.

is there something i'm doing wrong? is there another way to install this os?

thanks.

please send me a pm to notify me of the response... i hardly ever check this side of the forums.

edit: i just checked "about this mac"... here are the specs.

mac os x: v. 10.3.9
450 mhz powerpc g4
576mb sdram
20gb hdd (wow)

After it boots from the CD, look up at he menu bar and find the password reset utility.

The Tiger disc is a DVD isn't it? Does the iMac only have a CD drive?

Not a chance it only has a CD Drive. I had an old PowerBook Lombard G3, that thing had a DVD-ROM drive in it, and it came stock with OS9!
