Need a Printer for School

Well I am taking AP Bio and AP American History this year so I will be printing quite a bit and I need a new printer. I don't need color, so laser would ofcourse be best. Under $120. Thank you.

Compusa
Samsung ML-1740 Monochrome Laser Printer $49.99AR

Leaves you money for beer and maybe a toner cartridge later in the year.

Funny I used to work on Copy, Fax, and laser printers.

The most common cause for jams are poor paper storage. Paper gets damp when not used. You really wont feel it but its there. It causes pages not to seprate and jam.

Fan the paper if it has not been used in a long time. That means hold one end while you ruffle through the pages at the other. Do it from both ends.

TIP: If you pages are coming out curled turn your paper over in the paper tray. Paper has a natural curl to it and when it goes through the fuser it may enhance the curl. Damp paper curls a lot more.

Laser is nice but when you can get a Canon iP4000 for $80. after rebate (Outpost.com and probably others) and 3rd party ink is so cheap for it, why not have both b/w and color available. You'll just have to get comfortable with the word "NO" as you will have to use it often to keep classmates from leeching from you. It is a great printer at a ridiculously low price. About $16. worth of ink tanks (swiftink.com sells some of the best) lasts me for months.
