Need a powersupply for my parent's computer

Disaster struck again today in my parents household. My mom called me and told me the computer just shut off when she was using it. Everything she described pointed to the power supply.

Here's the problem. I don't have a car and my parents live 350 miles away. They are in a small town with no real access to a parts store. Basically, I'm thinking of ordering a supply through the egg and having it shipped up to them for my dad to put in. I'm just not sure what kind of wattage I should be looking for.

The computer is an old Duron 1000 based Gateway. I'd like to get a supply of decent quality for them so maybe I don't have to be doing this again in a year or so.

Also, does anyone know any tricks I could tell them to help keep the dust out? They have a wood heating stove so the house is quite dusty. I've told them they need to blow out the insides every month or so during the winter but they never listen to me. This is will be the third supply I've put in that computer in as many years...

Thanks!

First one that comes to mind is the Antec Earthwatts 380w PSU, but currently the 430W one is cheaper at $50 shipped!! This has 30A on the 12V rails, which is way overkill for your older system. I'm not sure if their would be any special connectors needed, but this should probably be fine.

oops!! Just found the 380w version cheaper, especially after MIR!! $44.24 - $25 MIR, but is only good until 3/16, so you'll have to act fast to get the MIR :(

So like a Deer, Codegen or Powmax would be ok? ;)

I ordered the 430 Antec from Newegg and had it shipped to my parents house. They live 350 miles away and wanted the computer back up as soon as possible so I talked my dad through the install. It sounds like he did everything I asked him to do but it still wouldn't boot. They are coming down this coming weekend so I'll have them bring it along so I can see if we missed something. If not, I've got the OK to build them a new box. Yay!

I'm not worried about being my parents tech support since it's been that way since the Gateway went out of warranty about 4-5 years ago. I'm excited to get them into a slightly more modern computer!

Thanks for the help!!!

Let us know how it turns out. Maybe there will be something simple that was missed?
