Disaster struck again today in my parents household. My mom called me and told me the computer just shut off when she was using it. Everything she described pointed to the power supply.
Here's the problem. I don't have a car and my parents live 350 miles away. They are in a small town with no real access to a parts store. Basically, I'm thinking of ordering a supply through the egg and having it shipped up to them for my dad to put in. I'm just not sure what kind of wattage I should be looking for.
The computer is an old Duron 1000 based Gateway. I'd like to get a supply of decent quality for them so maybe I don't have to be doing this again in a year or so.
Also, does anyone know any tricks I could tell them to help keep the dust out? They have a wood heating stove so the house is quite dusty. I've told them they need to blow out the insides every month or so during the winter but they never listen to me. This is will be the third supply I've put in that computer in as many years...
Thanks!
