Hello,

I have 2 MPX systems and i am currently building my 3rd MPX system. My first MPX system has a 400w power supply, my second one has a 360w power supply, and my third one may have a 400w also. I have a 1200w regulating transformer (because of the room i have the computers in have flaky wiring). I need a UPS for my systems. I'd like to buy 1 to power all of them but if its to expensive to protect 3 i'd like to get one that atleast protects 2 and then only run 2 at a time.

What do you guys recommend as the best for the price/proformance?

I would recommend a APC. All the ones I have used were great exept for one. It was a low end model for consumer use and it just sucked. I think it was actually broke becuase it didn't kick on all the time....

I am sure you can find one there that will cover them all but I don't know about price it might be a killer.

Go to ebay and search for SmartUPS or T2000.

Your best bet is to buy a SmartUPS 1400, which has about 950 watts of power. Go ahead and get it without batteries. I found mine for $50.

You can then go to batteries.com and buy a new set of more powerful batteries (you need two) for $52 shipped. The ones from Batteries.com are 12v 18amp each, the stock ones are 12v 17amp each.

You can upgrade a SmartUPS 1000 to a SmartUPS 1000XL (extended runtime), by doing roughly the same thing. I bought a SmartUPS 1000 for $40 without batteries. The stock ones are 12v 12amp. There's two small brackets inside that holds those shorter batteries in. Just remove those two brackets, and the 12v 18amp batteries slide right in (because the SmartUPS 1000, SmartUPS 1000XL, and SmartUPS 1400 all use the same chassis). It takes about 2 minutes to do.
