Wow, good idea. That way, I can still 'use' a scary dragon. Problem is, I can't draw.
 
Dragons are SUPPOSED to be scary. There's been exactly one story in which a dragon was friendly, and that dragon looked like a dog.

If he's too much of a wuss to handle looking at a picture of a dragon, draw him a butterfly or a duckling or something.

Yeah, but if I do that, he'll be like "Mooooom! *My name* (<-- can't let you find out 😛) made me a picture of a butterfly!" And then he'll cry. And my mom'll make me make another pic of a badass dragon, which will be removed before a day has passed cuz it's too scary.

So, less scary dragon, please 😛.

typing "dragon silhouette" in google pictures yields a few results that you could maybe trace or blow up in size to print (to accomplish your goal of making a poster).
