Firefly. It's a shame they only made one season...and a follow-up movie.

Well, Alphas might be kinda interesting to you if you liked Fringe. Maybe give that a try.

Doctor Who and Farscape are two of my all time favorites.

A few I didn't see mentioned yet:
Red Dwarf (comedy)
Ghost in the Shell (anime)
Cowboy Bebop (anime)

If you have even the slightest interest in fantasy, you have to watch A Game of Thrones.

I think you should still try Dr. Who. Even if you don't like it for the Sci Fi.

This.

I didn't really like Dr. Who at first, but I kept watching it and really started to enjoy it. Torchwood is great too, but watch Dr. Who first (or watch them in order).

Have to say, love fringe, don't like alphas. I am thinking it is the characters that turn me off of alphas.

New BSG
Farscape, but start at episode 16 or so of the first season.. it picks up mid 2nd season. One of the best shows out there, but takes a while.

I enjoyed Alphas (though it was a bit annoying that 2-3 episodes had the exact same plot... zomg, the villain turns out to be the person they were trusting the entire episodes!!!)

Alphas is the so freaking cool. Way better than all the other super heroe type shows. Syfy has got some real winners with Warehouse 13, Alphas, and Being Human. Sanctuary is decent as well.

Does CSI count as science fiction? I say it does. Still, I wouldn't recommend it.

I saw a Brittish space comedy called "Hyperspace" on Netflix. I thought it was pretty funny.

I've given up on trying to find any more "good" series... So I've just been watching Monty Python's Flying Circus instead.

Did you watch Dollhouse? It has a couple of really weak episodes early on and it wraps up too quickly but it's a solid two seasons and enjoyable plot.

I will second the Cowboy Bebop and A Game of Thrones suggestions and though it sounds like you want more SciFi but I've been watching Supernatural lately which is pretty good.
