What do I watch now? I've burned through all the Star Treks, Stargates, B5, Firefly and probably one or two other I'm forgetting. I don't think Dr. Who is my cup of tea. I also just couldn't get into Battlestar Galactica. I'm up to date on Fringe. Suggestions?

I think I hated Farscape, but that might have been Adromeda, or maybe it was both. Farscape is the one with the tentacle man built in with the ship or something right? I don't know, it all seemed a bit ridiculous and low budget to me.

Ya I watched all they Hey Dude?s when I was a kid so we're good on that.

I'm assuming you've seen the X Files and Lost.

Battlestar Galactica?

Eureka is lame, Warehouse 13 is lame, Sanctuary is lame, Alphas looked super lame then I looked into it more and the premise sounded not bad and then I looked into it even more and it seems like it might be bad after all.

I'm more interested in future space sci fi type stuff, but open to other stuff that is done well enough. Fringe is so bloated with silly junk science it drove me absolutely nuts but the story arc was pretty good and I liked the characters so I hung in there. Eureka was just junk science and goofiness for its own sake, so that gets a lame grade.

Pilot was more of a crustacean, but yeah. Wasn't a huge budget, but still a pretty decent show.

Sliders. Stop after the 3rd season. Seasons 1 and 2 are the best. Season 3 is meh. Seasons 4 and 5 will make you want to claw your eyes out.

Farscape had a budget equal to that of SG-1 when they were both on the air. Somewhere around 2mil an episode. Was not a low budget show, and once the story gets going it's a great show.

This, and I think DS9's budget was also comparable. I used to have the exact same opinion of Farscape until I gave it another go. Since it was Jim Henson's studio, they dropped more of the money on animatronics than CGI. By episode 2.04 I got interested.

Have you checked out Roughnecks: The Starship Trooper Chronicles? Yes the CG animation is a bit dated but the show itself is pretty good- sort of like Band of Bros in space...

Then there's Space: Above and Beyond, which is a really good short-lived FOX series.

BTW - I meant the original Battlestar Galactica. I guess I wasn't clear about that.

It's on netflix.

Oh. Ya, I've considered it.

Terranova looks stupid. Dinosaurs are dumb.

I actually have watched Sliders, forgot to mention that. Also loved that show when I was a kid.

Maybe I'll give Farscape another go. How long does it take to get into? I'll admit B5 was pretty rough going at first but it really picks up big time by season 2.

Sliders gets bad, REALLY bad after the first couple of seasons.

OP, you may want to check out the Steven Baxter Manifold: Trilogy. I don't read much sci fi but futuristic tech was often featured and contact with civilizations across the universe occurred. I would guess the trilogy is a little more cerebral than most, but still easy to read.

Some good ones in there. I should go back and try to watch Alien nation I was too young when it was on air to get into it. By it's very nature the Twilight zone is very very hit and mis but there is some great sci fi classic in both the new and old series here! Got to watch Quantum Leap, was before my time but I really like the episodes I have seen. Going to download that thanks for the reminder. Never could get into Millenium. The X Files is good for a surprisingly long time but does finally jump the shark in it's final few seasons. I also liked many of episodes of 7 Days but never watched enough of it. Does it ever jump the shark?
