My old when screwed up for the second time, and Kenwood is buying it back. I don't really wanna spend over 500. It will be used with a Paradigm speaker system.

Is this going to be for Home Theater? if not, why not? :p

Anyway, the biggest concern for me about a year ago, was video conversion. Plugging an SVHS camcorder in the front, and having it show up on the TV which uses Component connections. Or, having the composite signal get passed to devices using SVHS. Seems like a small thing, but you'll find out the hard way if that option doesn't exist on your receiver.

Edit: Good call Tang. I wish I could give credit to whoever told me to buy it, but they put me wise to the VSX-1014TX because of my requirement and budget. Thank you very much to whoever you are, because it's been a joy!

Edit II: Found him! Tiles2Tech is the man!

I love my Panasonic SA-XR55S.

The only device I have connected is my HTPC via optical connections. Its sounds excellent through my Kilpsch speakers, much better than my old Yamaha which costed 2x.

I've heard that the analog inputs aren't so great, but I can't confirm since I only use the one Digital input...

I have an refurb Onkyo TX-S702 that I got from J&R for 399 shipped. It simply rocks.
I actually have it paired up with those athena .5 speaker system with a Polk audio 10" sub.
J&R has some cool deals sometimes.

I have since gotten a 1014 too as a floor model I found and it's working just fine for me.

michaels, also in this range you could get something by HK or Denon.

HK has a nice ebay store with factory refurb units that are a nice deal.

Would you be able to go to a local Paraidigm dealer and hear your speakers with some various receivers to see what you like best?
