Need a new PSU for a P4?

Hi guys,

I am currently using a Abit Bp6 board. I am looking to upgrade and get Abit TH7II. Would I need to get a new PSU? I heard that the connectors are different now...but I just want to confirm.

Thanks

Hey Joe,

That was a fast reply.
I am wondering if there is a need to get a more powerful psu (ie. more than 300W) for a P4. After looking at some of the selections in Newegg, I see that there is a lot of psu with 300+ W nowadays. Is there really a need for them because of the new CPU and motherboard...or is it more a option for ppl who want to have peltiers?

I think they have an extra 4 pin connectors. I would have gotten this board but I decided to go for RDRam.

Yes you need a new PS with an ATX 12V connector on it, ASUS does include an adapter for this, Abit does not.
I have the TH7II RAID and got the Antec 350W PS.
300W is likely enough depends on how many drives, fans etc. you plan on hooking to it.
