Looking to spend $70-$80 on a nice new pair of comfortable work shoes. What should I go for?

Depending on which state you reside in, you may want to wait for the sales tax relief period. More information here.

Saying you need them for work tells us nothing, as we do not know where you work. I assume you don't need sneakers, but do you want casual or dress shoes? Brown or black?

Somewhere in between casual and dress I suppose. Something that goes well with either jeans or dockers would be good. Black generally works.

In my experiences, stay away from Nike (unless you get the really high dollar shoes.. $120+). They don't hold up very well at all. I would go for a pair of Saucony or Asics shoes or even the new Adidas ones (getting a pair of their version of Nike Shox tomorrow, which are VERY comfortable). Saucony's are the best shoes I've ever had, as well as the most comfortable.
