Well I havent been playing much lately and I was looking for something to occupy some time and replace school during christmas break. Unfortunately for myself I really didnt enjoy RO. I liked COD but I burnt out on that a long while ago (cant stand that the models shoot through their heads.) I do like the semirealistic games and was looking for something else to try. Should I try CS:S? Is it still so buggy as it was reported to be when it first came out?

Battlefield Vietnam is fun. I got tired of it after 6 months but that's a pretty good run for me.

CS:S is pretty cool. It does have issues, but I think it's pretty decent. I switched from an FPS I had played for 2 years to it, got our own server now(for a clan). I gotta reinstall it though, was having lots of issues on my system and had to reinstall a few things.

I love CS:S and either way if you buy HL2 you get HL2DM as well. CS:S is probably my favorite game in along time.

If you own quake3, you might try the mod urban terror for it. It is a realism based fps, meaning it has realistic weapons, but preserves much of the fast paced action of quake3. Very fun. Their website is www.urbanterror.net.

I have played ET and enjoyed it thoroughly but I am really looking for something more.

I heard that you can turn off the foliage but maybe ill run out and pick it up. The price should be about nothing by now right?

I own it. I felt it is a bit fast paced for my liking. I did enjoy onslaught especially when everyone from AT was playing the demo. However I get owned in the deathmatch like nobody's business.

Wolf:ET though seems to need a beefy pc to play. Even at college and their wonderful connections, Its laggy as heck on low detail at 640*480 to the point where its BARELY playable...so many other games are nowhere near this slow and they look a thousand times better...

The game doesnt require a beefy PC. After my 5900 died it ran just fine on a gf2 pro.

So.

I really enjoyed playing some CS:Source.. however there seems to be a hit box bug. Sometimes when I shoot at someone.. and miss.. or at least I should miss because they havent been in that spot for almost a second - the shot will count as a hit even though they are far from that spot now. The bug is annoying me a lot and while I cannot say for sure that I have been hit that way its annoying to me that some of my misses are counting as hits.

Played HL2 for the first time and I have to ask.. is the game supposed to be so EASY!? I put the game on Hard.. or at least I believed I did and bullets barely harm me at all. Is there a way for me to double check what difficulty a save was made on?

BF 1942
If you haven't played it, dl the multiplayer demo.
Takes the WW2 FPS genre and adds tanks, planes, etc.
The addition of vehicles adds so much variety in gameplay that you can play it for months without getting bored. Actually, I played it almost every day for over a year before I got tired of it. Then dl the Desert Combat mod to keep you occupied for a few more months.

I got bored with BF very quickly, and I even played DC. The loading times were so horrid that I couldn't stand it. It's not a bad game, just don't think it performed well enough to keep playing. Maybe BF2 will be better.

I'm loving CS:S. I put it down for about 3 or 4 weeks after HL2 was released, and just picked back up with it this past weekend. After a couple of updates, I seem to not have near as many problems with hit detection as I thought I had in the past. Either that or my break from playing improved my aim somehow ;).

If you lagged playing Wolf:ET, it was probably your connection and not your computer. The Quake III engine isn't that CPU intensive (by today's standards).

I think Enemy Territory is the best multiplayer FPS out there, bar none. I've tried Battlefield Vietnam, 1942, Call of Duty (horrible multiplayer), Rainbow Six, Counterstrike:Source, MOH, etc. My roommate and I played ET for over 2 years straight and never got tired of it. The mapping community in ET is extremely active and there are literally new maps every day...and it's FREE, which puts it a notch above everything else.

CoD, Americas Army, NFSU 2, CS:Source

Enemy Territory is annoying since all the maps have to be downloaded before you play them.

I loved call of duty multiplayer. Specifically league play. There was so much strategy. The game is great barring that models shoot out of their face. Its really annoying when someones face and only their face leans out of a doorway/window and shoots you. It is as if they have lazer eyes or something. I wonder if that was changed with UO.

I guess I'm more of a team based guy, and IMHO no one does that like Wolf:ET. Add to that character classes, constructibles and destructibles, experience points, ranking, special abilities, etc., and I think the game has incredible depth. I was looking forward to COD when it came out and was disappointed b/c although the engine is good, it was little more than deathmatch/team deathmatch and a weak objective based mode. No classes of any kind, nor XP, etc. You had a choice of a few different guns and that's it. Played it for about 2 days and went back to ET. Oh well.

I havent tried it. How popular is the game in the community and how many good east coast servers? Is the game as fast paced as UT?
