The LCD thread is kind of dead, so I am posting in the open.

My needs:
-Color accuracy for digital photo work
-Casual surfing/computer work (less AG coating the better)
-Occasional gaming (last priority)

What I want/budget:
-IPS monitor
-24" for less than $500 or
-30" for less than $1500

I am finally replacing my DELL FP2001, so the new one has to at least be better than that panel.

Any recommendations?

I have been leaning DELL 2412M for the 24" option or the HP ZR30w for the 30" option.

If you need a wide color gamut, go with the U2410 instead of the U2412M. The M subseries are kinda like budget Ultrasharps. They use eIPS screens and have 82% gamut vice 110%, as well as not having 12-bit color. Though if you don't need all that you can save a chunk of change by getting the M subseries. I hear they're still excellent monitors.

For the 30", either the Dell U30 series or that ZR30 from HP are considered the defacto standards outside of Apple's 30"ers. I wanna say they even use the same panel, but don't quote me on that.

NEC has some excellent, color-accurate monitors with much less visible AG coating than Dells, but unless you can find one on sale they can sometimes tickle the Dell U27 series prices for a 23" or 24".

I'd probably also check out tftcentral's website. They do full range color testing as well as latency testing for games for TONS of LCDs. All their reviews are really in depth as well.
