Well, I just found out I'll be losing my job at the end of March so I have 1 month to find something new. The only thing I know is Tech Support and unfortunately that's what everyone knows these days so it's hard to find anything other than entry lvl jobs.

I'd love to find some sort of work from home business but I know most of those are scams. I have no problem cranking through data form home or anything else but don't know of any legit Work from Home things I can do.

I've thought of a career change, but since I have an mortgage and lots of bills, I can just start over from scratch and cut $20,000 off my income.

Just looking for any ideas anyone has for someone in my situation. Hopefully something comes up.

Such is life. 🙁

My degree is in Computers. I only have an associates degree but have 13 years of experience in various Tech Support type positions mostly in Level 2/3 depending on how the company defines the roles.

What does a degree in Computers mean?

Milk unemployment as long as possible...

But hey, good on you to actually go out and try to find another job as soon as possible. I'm also job searching right now, as I will be graduating with my BS in the spring. Tough market, good luck to you.

For many people, unemployment doesn't cover enough to consider "milking" it...
In IL, unemployment maxes out at $385 per week for single and no kids.

That works out to about 20K in a year...

Anybody who "milks" 20K a year is doing it wrong.

That probably barely covers rent for some people and the OP has a mortgage.

I'm going to bury this here and hope my company's web crawlers don't find it.

We've lost 30% of our sales force in the past 6 months. Out of those of us left, 50% are on a corrective action for our stats which means we have 30 days to achieve the unobtainable numbers they want us to hit our we lose our jobs. Everyone (not exaggerating) is job shopping. But we are in MI and the job situation is tough.

Currently my plan is to stockpile medical supplies for my son while I still have insurance and flex, keep sending out resumes, and pray like a mofo.

OP: keep your head up

You are forgetting food stamps and all the other entitlements.

no I am not.

Food stamps and other entitlements will raise the $ amount, but, for almost anybody who has a mortgage in a semi-expensive place, they will have negative cash flow while on unemployment and until they find comparable employment.
