Need a new HDD

Maxtor DiamondMax 10 300GB is among the best priced hard drives, some are even lower than 250GB. They are very fast as well.

If not Maxtor, then the Seagate 250GB is about $110.

What about the 7200.9 series, I see a post on here about them just being released. I havn't look at them yet but are they quite pricy. Also if I was to go external would I see a neg in performace when im accesing mp3 and videos.

External USB would be slower. I've never tried external firewire but I would imagine it would be slower as well. Certainly enough bandwidth for MP3's and probably videos depending on the bandwidth required.

A 7200rpm seagate 250GB/300GB should do fine. If you really want speed, look for one of the 16MB cache models (rather than the standard 8MB).

I recently bought 2 300GB SATA Maxtor Maxline III drives for 129 each. Great drives, 5 yr warranty, 16meg cache and quiet. I usually hate maxtor but after reading up on these, they have put a lot of work in this line.
