Need a new HD

2 120 gig WD IDE drives. Master is dying, barely any space is being used on the slave.

Edit: Getting tons of disk errors in event viewer

Details
Product: Windows Operating System
ID: 7
Source: Disk
Version: 5.2
Symbolic Name: IO_ERR_BAD_BLOCK
Message: The device, %1, has a bad block.

Explanation
The device has a bad block of memory, which Windows attempted to read. The data might be missing or corrupted.

User Action
If this event is logged regularly, replace the hard disk drive.

Edit2: I still want the slave clean to use just for important data, something that will survive wipes of the main drive with the OS and programs on it.

Yeah..Id say just get a new SATA 7200RPM HD...they are getting pretty damn good these days...much more space for the money too.

Check out the Samsung Spinpoint series. Easy to find some reviews, but they are the coolest running, and quietest hard drives on the market. I love my 120GB P80, and now the P120s are out.

Are you a western digital slut or something, haha? Even after you have problems with one, you are only considering other western digitals?

No, I've owned more then two drives from them and had no problems besides this one, which may actually not be the drives fault anyway. Also, looking at the specs thats what came up. I would prefer not to be called a slut though, if you wouldn't mind.

Found out the drive may still be under warrenty though, so I'm going that route first.

Edit: The WD drive also performed well under the SATA II review on Anand.
