One of my friend informed me that Radeon cards dont get proper updates on their drivers and as a result many new games are not supportive with the same.

is this true ?

as for the same reason i was opting gtx 550 ti

The newer cards (5 series and newer) get new drivers very often. The older cards (4 series and below) Will only get driver updates ever so often.

If you plan on getting a 24" monitor soon, then buy the best card you can for the money. I don't think you can overclock your CPU on your intel mobo. That CPU will be holding you back some. What is your budget ins USD?

That's not true. Regular driver updates is what AMD is known for actually (they recently stopped releasing one every month though - not like anyone does that). DX10 cards and older are in legacy mode (but those cards are 4+ years old) - driver updates every few months only and only to fix bugs.

The two recommendations are great btw.

so Which card shall i go for now ?

As per the price constraint . i cant go above INR 8000 I.E : $150

Kindly Suggest

Doesn't matter, it will work the same. PCI express as a standard is backwards compatible, theoretically you could run a PCIe 3.0 graphics card in a PCIe 1.1 slot, it would just be bandwidth limited.

There are no bandwidth differences between 2.0 and 2.1

Thnx . then i will wait a few days and opt for 6850

Another last question BTW .

which brand is good in india. especially for replacement concerns .

Regards
jatin

I would not buy PowerColor personally. Sapphire, Asus and MSI and XFX are probably my top choices for AMD cards, but I can't single out one over any of them with regard to cusomter service / RMA in India. Generally XFX is known for its warranty and customer service but I don't know how that applies in India, it's an American brand (although its parent company is Taiwanese) while Sapphire is from Hong Kong and Asus and MSI are both Taiwanese. I'd get Sapphire 6850 over PowerColor
