Hi All,
I got a good price for my current set up and need to buy an upgraded computer. I don't have a ton of cash but do want decent stuff. My budget is around $1250 could go a few hundred higher if it was required. Basically been a looong time AMD fan but want to try the Intel core2duo and see how they run.

I'm upgrading from the following,
Asus A8N Sli premium
AMD 4400x2
Corsair Extreme 2GB Ram
Evga 7800GT VC
250GB Maxtor HD

Rig runs great but time to move on. I play F.E.A.R online and my monitor is a Samsung 226BW so I need a video card that can run that game at full resolution with all the goodies on at 1680x1050. From there it's surfing the net, editing music and of course bragging rights.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a ton for the help. I believe if you go out on your own without asking opinions you may miss a great underdog product or spend too much.

I agree on the video card suggestion and that is exactly what I was thinking.

My puter is at least a year old though and I got a great price on it so I'd be an idiot not to sell it. Do I need to? No, but it's one of those things where I'll never get this amount again if I didn't so I'm pretty much committed. Besides I hate that damned Maxtor hard drive. :)

I didn't catch the selling of your current rig.

In that case, I would get C2D E6600, Abit QuadGT based on P965 chipset so you can plop a quad-core later on, and you can get a good price on 320GB Seagate (check Hot Deals).

Keep it and upgrade to a gts like everyone is saying. That rig can def. hold you over for a few more months.
