Need a new all-around use 15.4 laptop, $1000-1200

I've had this E1505 for a couple years now and it's really starting to fall apart on me. I'm thinking of replacing it with an Acer or HP because I've heard good things about them, but I honestly don't know. I'll be using this thing for a little of everything, movies, homework, games (hopefully even Supreme Commander, etc, I'm an RTS guy)

What I do know is (in no particular order):
$1000-1200 budget, maybe $1300 if it will be that much better
I want either a 15.4 or 14.1 laptop
It needs to last a good three years or so (good build quality and a good warranty is a must)
Discrete graphics is a must
being able to switch between integrated and discrete is preferable
something like a 9600m GS would be ideal, but not completely necessary
Processor doesn't need to be anything special
Prefer a glossy screen since I occasionally use it outside
Integrated webcam and mic would be nice, but stuff like that isn't necessary
AMD/Intel doesn't matter to me as long as it meets the above criteria

I realize Black Friday is coming, but we're not certain this laptop isn't going to just die before then, so we'd like to find a replacement within a week or so.

thanks in advance

Well, take your pick from the power search I ran on newegg.

Mostly Asus for some reason?

I would tell you to consider the Gateway P-7811fx, but it's 17-inches and 9 pounds.

Whoa, that's pretty helpful, but does anyone have any recommendations on a specific model? After this Dell, durability is a big concern of mine and I don't want to just shoot in the dark with one of the fifty that have good specifications.

Check out there "What notebook should I buy" forum, read the FAQ (this is a must) and post what you're looking for.

This is probably the best thing to do. I don't know how many people here keep up with the latest in notebooks. I usually recommend something from Lenovo's Thinkpad line, Dell's Latitude series, or something off Newegg that sort of matches what the OP is looking for.

I picked up a XPS M1330 with 2.4 C2D, 3GB DDR2, 320GB HDD, GF 8400M GS and LED screen for <$800 from Dell Outlet. Look there and I'm sure you can easily tack on upgraded warranty for it too.
