Good day everybody,
Although I am a bit of a lurker, I have been using AT for some time and appreciate all of the expertise that posts here.
I currently have a Dell Inspiron 700m that has served me very well for almost 4 years. I have never had a problem with it until recently the PCIe slot gave up the ghost. I was not expecting much from Dell but was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this particular notebook PC.
I recently purchased a good used HP TX1000 running Vista and I am not happy with it. It's really flimsy, the keyboard is clicky and the screen hinge is really loose. I bought it thinking that a tablet PC would help me with some drawings, but I am not pleased with the tablet features and furthermore, I don't think I really need tablet features.
I am looking for something with similar performance to my old 700m, just newer. I want the portability of a 12" screen, 100GB-ish HDD, Core 2 Duo processor or AMD, 2GB RAM preferably upgradeable to 4GB and I would like to stick with the 1" or so thickness that I have enjoyed with my old 700m. I do not want a new PC, I will buy used as always.
I have been intrigued by the Lenovo X31, but I think it only comes with a Centrino CPU, which is not the end of the world. I have looked at the X61 as well, but I don't need the tablet features.
Any help would be appreciated.
