Need a motherboard for a good old slot-A althon...

I'm building a system for my little sis(she's 11), and I need a slot a motherboard with one strict requirement: it must be compatible with a Voodoo3 3000 AGP! That's video card shes getting.
The reason I have the voodoo 3 is that the system I built for my parents originally had that in it, but we upgraded it to a 1.4 tbird, and the agp slot isn't compatible 🙁 ....
The reason I have the althon is .... ummm... that's what my parents had originally.....and....the PS sorta burned it out.... but the chip is fine....

any ideas?

I know one motherboard that will work is the MSI 6167....

Asus K7V or K7M were the King of Slot A, and they should support V3's, V3's were right in their time frame. Stay away from Abit KA7 or KA7-100, I've heard alot of them failing lately.

athlon4all.....where did you hear about the abit's going down.???
i have a ka7 and a ka7-100.....they both are doa.....within the last month...............shhhhhitttttt

Ka7 was a nice overclocker board. I had a k7-700 oc'd to 1010MHz. My sister has the board now. It outlasted the goldfinger used to overclock the cpu, and still going.

My friend has a K7-700 on a K7M and has had ZERO problems with that sys. It is a great running sys. and very reliable and stable! my friend also has a K7V and he likes that board alot for it's stability... I'd recommend either of these...

Another vote for the Asus K7M. It has been by far and wide the most stable Slot A board I have used. I have never had a problem with any of the systems I have built around it and I know for a fact that they Voodoo 3 3000 will work as that is in two of the systems I built using this board.

I did a search on Pricewatch for the FIC SD11 and it came up with a low price of $40... Try looking into that board if you want to save some money. I personally like the K7M but the SD11 works fine too.

Just did another pricewatch search and came up with a low price of $56 for the Gigabyte GA-7IXE, and alot more results too.

I've just heard lots of ppl for a time of all of a sudden having their Ka7 and Ka7-100's failing, and there was something about a leaking capasitor, and it sounded like that Abit wasn't gonna do anything about it.

EDIT: A quick suggestion, how about looking for a used K7M. I bet u could get it for $50ish. Just ask on AT's For Sale/Trade Forums

If your not overclocking, and I doubt your sister is, you should check out the AK72 from Aopen. I have one and it has been the most stable board I have ever owned. That is what it was built for. It overclocks well with the gold finger but the fsb settings are not too extensive, that is why I said the comment about not overclocking. I am still running mine with a Athlon 650 at 748 via the fsb with no goldfinger and have been for two years with no problems at all. The capacitors on this board are huge so I guess that is why it is so stable. Aopen makes great boards imo.
