Need a mobo that goes to sleep

What do I look for when looking for a motherboard that I want to put the whole computer to sleep. Say like a Dell or HP. I May go a day or two before using the PC now due to work and would like to have it power down for power savings.

I've built PC's in the past and they would not do this so I wondered if I was missing something when shopping for one.

PS win7 if that matters.

Thanks all

I've used S3 sleep mode for years with the PCs I've built for myself. Perhaps you just have to enable it in BIOS and tell Windows to sleep?

A self-built computer shouldn't behave any different than a pre-built.

The main difference is likely that a pre-built will also come with a pre-configured OS and setup, with a custom built, or "clean" OS and driver, etc... you have to pay a bit more attention to things that might bring the computer out of stand-by.

Thanks guys. So most will have it?

There is no "word" in the specs that says that it has sleep mode?

i did build a few using biostar mobo and they do not have sleep mode .
asus do and asrock never had a problem with the last 2 mention mobo and i did buy a lot of them

Most current mother boards should have that feature. Perhaps the bare bones boards may not - less than $100. If you can download the specs from the mfg., that sort of info about sleep function should be there. How much do you want to spend?

all my biostar board only had the hibernate mode .not the sleep mode .
now hibernate it like your computer is turn off .
i set my sleep mode using power in control panel very easy to program from there .mine are set at 5 minutes on all 4 of my computer that i use now
