Ok, what the hell is wrong with some men? I have a really good friend, we have been friends for a while now. We get along great, have fun together, etc, so on. Our relationship has primarily been based on sarcastic insults, and just teasing each other non stop. We are both very sarcastic rude people when we want to be, so it works for us. Fast forward to last weekend, I meet a guy. A smart funny guy, with a good job. I tell my friend about this guy, and all of a sudden, he starts acting way different to me.....

Rubbing my neck, touching me all night, making comments, and lots of other things that are just not like him. What is up with that? Why would he want me suddenly, just because I might *gasp* like someone else? I just don't understand why some peoples minds work the way they do. Ideas?

He has wanted you for awhile. His change in actions towards you are his way of handling this possible threat to your relationship with him.

He has probably been interested in you for a while now, and is now trying to move things along since there's another guy in the picture.

Ditto. He's wanted you all along, just never told you.

On a side note, I find it interesting that you would mention the new man's job at all.

you know i have to disagree.... he didn't necessarily want you all along... sometimes it takes something like this to get people to realize things.

He has liked someone else though, for months now... that is all he has talked about. So I really don't think he liked me that much.

Sounds like he was just trying to impress you. It's weird, but I've seen guys do it. He might want to make you think that he's "playing the field" or whatever. Maybe trying to make you competative.

You want to know why I mentioned his job? Simple. Because where I live, most men are on welfare, alcoholics, or potheads who don't go to work most days of the week. So when I say good job, I mean has been there for a while, and is a very smart man, (he is an engineer) not for financial reasons.

I work full time and make good money, I support myself and my kids just fine, I don't need anyone to take care of me. ;)

That's odd then. This may just have to get filed in the "who the fsck knows" category.

i rarely hang out with chicks i dont like like, unless im involved with someone else or someone else is involved with them. If i hang out with a chick and im single i like them because they are compatible with me. I unno, just one guys way of thinking i guess.

Maybe he's a possessive type?

I used to be that way sometimes with my women friends when I was a little younger, until I took a step back one day and realized how silly and stupid it was.

Possibly he just claims to like another girl in an attempt to get you jealous, and is it indeed a simple matter of interest in you.

P.S. Why do you ask ATOT when you need a man's input? Have you been able to avoid clicking on YAGTs so far? :D
