Thinking of a mail server...which one to use?
I have a domain which i host on my computer. How can I set it up such that i can create accounts like blahblah@mydomain.com ?
I am using ZoneEdit's nameservers, and i saw some settings there for a mail server...is that it?

some pointers please...
thanks

Just setup an MX record on your DNS host, install the mail server and if you are behind a router or proxy box, forward ports 25 and 110 to the machine running the server.

Are those apps for Windows?
forgot to mention, this will run on windows xp pro. There is something in IIS about mail, but never used it. I however, use it for running my webserver.
sendmail and qmail seem only for unix

I user Merak. I do run it on a Windows 2003 VM but I believe it will run on XP. Not free however. Can't remember how much I paid but it is quite good. You get what you pay for usually.

dude...merak mail server Lite is $150 !@!
lol...i was thinking more like 10-20 bucks. anyone else know of any freeware windows mail server??

Anyone know how to get the cmail server to work with zoneedit DNS and MX setup.

Forinstance my site www.innodesvcs.com is through zoneedit DNS. That works. Try to use the cmailserver instructions to setup up the MX on those DNS but can't get the webmail to display. Not sure I"m doing it right.

Thanks,

Mac

Argosoft also offers a free lite email server for Windows . I use there Pro version for 7 domains with no problems.
