I am doing this build to use for a couple of months. Not building until probably August unless I get a job soon then be building end of this month.

I am running XP on it because I can probably get a free copy.

Will be selling it in December to my friend.

I will have $200 to spend and I need case, CPU with integrated graphics or CPU with graphics card, mobo, and optical drive.

I will use it for games then my friend will use it for WoW and light computering such as Facebook and emails.

I have 8gb patriot ram, 450w PSU, and Seagate 500gb HDD already.

I would really like intel.

I am NOT close to micro center!

If you're not building until August there's no point in choosing parts now.

On that budget it might make sense to at least consider the For Sale/For Trade forum here, especially since you're reusing a number of parts anyway.

Isn't this like the 3rd thread on the same build? What was wrong with the other two, didn't like the advice you got?

It's understandable. I mean, the original build was for a friend, and then moved to other things. Then there was a thread about a cheap WinXP build. Now it's a WinXP build which will eventually go to a friend.

I did understand the ultimate point of this thread, right?

Also: are you considering taxes? Do Amazon and/or Newegg collect taxes in your state? If so, how much?

Well, if you just want cheap:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Celeron G1610 2.6GHz Dual-Core Processor ($45.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ECS B75H2-M3(1.0) Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($58.98 @ Newegg)
Case: Rosewill FBM-01 MicroATX Mini Tower Case ($29.55 @ Amazon)
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224BB DVD/CD Writer ($14.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $149.51
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)
(Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-05-02 00:25 EDT-0400)

Plus a 6750 from Ebay for $65-70 puts it at $220 before taxes. I wouldn't go lower than. Dell would sell a similar build for $450 or so (a Dell outlet tower with a Celeron is no more than $350, throw in 4GB more RAM for $25, and add a $70 graphics card).

was that so hard?

Does this compare to that?

It's not that it's hard to do when I have all the information, it's just difficult to tell what exactly you want when you're not upfront about it. You started by asking for a WoW build for your friend--easy enough. Then you asked for another build for WinXP to play older games--which is cheaper and more effective to accomplish via a VM or getting Windows 7 Pro ($140 on Newegg) and running XP Mode, or even 100% free if you Google around a bit for a simple fix (and many of the games don't even need fixes despite only saying "for WinXP). I did not know until very recently that you were planning on sending this build to a friend. And I did not know until even more recently that you were planning on getting Windows 7 Ultimate with the proceeds (sidenote, the forum rules actually forbid price checks to prevent FS/FT threads from creeping into other forums).

Back to the point: that APU build is at least 50% weaker in games. It's not worthwhile.

If not, ASRock makes an H61 Micro ATX DGS motherboard that sells on Newegg for $45. Throw on a G540 CPU and you're at just under $100. That'll leave you with $100 for the video card, case, and DVD drive. Get the Rosewill Ranger you mentioned for $20, an Asus DVD for another $20, and you can get whatever video card you can find on sale for the remaining $60. Probably looking at a GT 640 or HD6670.

Was that not a good suggestion or something? Your story on this computer has changed several times.

In any case the parts we suggest to you now are not going to be the same price in August so giving you exact specific parts to buy is pointless, especially with the budget you're on. I can tell you buy a Celeron G550 because it's only $50 right now, but if tomorrow a Celeron G540 is on sale for $30 you might as well go with that.

Get the cheapest H61 motherboard (that isn't horrible) you can find, the cheapest Celeron processor you can find, a cheap case, and go buy an HD6670 or GT640 when you find one on sale. That's really the best answer you're going to get.
