Need a little help with Networking my Tivo

I know this is a little on topic for off topic, but I need a quicker response then I would likely get in networking. I want to get my Tivo hooked up to my network, since I don't have a phoneline and my guide is about to run out. I have a linksys WRT54GS, and was considering getting a linksys WUSB11 adapter for it. But from what i understand the tivo only works with older models of this. 2.6, and 2.8, with it seeming as though the 2.6 works best. So how can I tell the version, do I have to open the box to tell?

I didn't figure tivo would be able to tell me to much about linksys' networking equipment. Maybe I need to call linksys, but I doubt that woudl be very simple.

You do have a series 2 non directv unit I hope? Does your service # begin with 230, 240, 264, 275, 540, 565, 590 or 595?

3.0 would work if you have 4.0.1b or later and one of the above service #s. 4.0 apparently doesn't work at all?

Your best bet is to head over to http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/ if you need help beyond that (which is just stolen info from there anyway).

The OP is refering to the version number of the Linksys WUSB11 USB wireless adaptor, not the Tivo. Versions 2.6, 2.8, and 3.0 should work. OP, I almost have the exact setup -- WRT54g, WUSB11, Tivo Series2. The only way to tell (I think) is to actually open up the package and check the unit itself. On the bottom there is a sticker. Under the Linksys logo mine says Model No: WUSB11 ver.2.6. Good luck.
