Need a little hardware help! 850 down

Russ,
I can't find that SPECIFIC setting. I assume that it is 2x PCI which is at 33 PCI/100 FSB.
It makes perfect sense though. I just can't find it!
Will look again.

Thanx

MSI 6163 Pro, with an Abit Slotket III.
I had the same problem with an Asus slotket S370-133, so I think it relates to the AGP more than anything.

I had some troubles using a Maxtor UDMA 33 with this combo earlier, but with our gamebox going down today, I thought that I would use this machine to replace it, hence back to trying to make this V3 work with it.

BTW, this 850 works great other than this problem.

You said in the other thread, you used another AGP video card on it.

Hmmm.... are you using the latest bios?

How do you have the chip O/Cd? With the mobo, or with the slotket?
I'd use the mobo, instead of the slotket.

Is your "Init Display" set for AGP?

Yumm, Yumm
Trout! with butter!

Seriously, I tried all the settings that Assimilator suggested (many WERE incorrect..dang defaults) but it will go into Windows now! Still has those stupid horizontal lines however. :-|

Even dug out my BIOS Tweaks from Adrian's Rojak Pot.

Since it goes into Windows now, I think I'll try loading the V3 Win drivers to see if it looks normal.

As for cards that work, the PCI ones have been a ViRGE GX, a couple of clunkers, and the AGP was a Permedea 2.

Off to try the 3DFx drivers.

Ohh, it's FRIDAY, I need to take a LARGE dump. I hope that I don't break Jator's proxy again. 😱

Try the 95Mhz bus speed on the 6163 pro. That will run your PCI/AGP bus' slightly under specification, and may be what you need to make it work.
