need a laptop

screen size doesnt really matter...looking for at least 512mb ram...trying to stay away from a celeron or sempron


dvd rw would be nice but not needed....hd at least 40gb....weight not much of an issue if the specs are nice
 
basic internet use...some business...mostly will be used in and around the house not much traveling

no gaming

its just for internet and mp3 mostly...
 
If battery life does not matter, then you can include Celeron M on your list again. These chips perform almost exactly like Pentium M's clock for clock. Their only big disadvantage is less battery efficiency. Celeron M notebooks are a lot cheaper, and getting one could help you meet other desired specs while staying under $700.
