Hi,
I am looking for a laptop which has older mini-PCI WiFi slot (instead of newer mini-PCI Express slot) and supports Intel dual core CPUs like Core Duo. Even if motherboard has Core Solo or Celeron M but can be upgraded to a dual core CPU it'll work for me. I'll also look at the AMD based dual core CPU notebooks with older mini-PCi WiFi slot.

I think some of Intel 943 GML chipset based notebooks may have older Mini-PCI slots but I need someone to confirm it.

Thanks.

Hey thanks for your reply, but I wasn't referring to a PCMCIA slot. I meant a min-PCI slot which is used for a WiFi card. Most of the times you have to take a panel off the base of the laptop to access it.

So anyone ever came across a notebook which can take an Intell or AMD dual core processor and has a 'mini-PCI' slot instead of newer 'mini-PCI Express' slot?

Thanks,

Good luck. I doubt you'll find any.

Why the need for a min-PCI slot over a mini-PCI-E slot? If it is for a WiFi card, that's kind of dumb, since pretty much every laptop on the market comes with a capable WiFi card.

I already have a somewhat newer laptop with 'mini-PCI Express' slot but lets say I have a certain accessory which can only fit into a 'mini-PCI' slot, so buying a newer laptop with mini-PCIE is not the solution. Thats why I am looking for a laptop with a motherboard which can potentially support dual core CPU and also have a 'mini-PCI' slot.

I appreciate the link to the Dell Financial Services. I can find tons of older laptop on ebay which have 'mini-PCI' but I am looking for a relatively newer (around 2006) laptop with Intel 943GML chipset or higher which can take dual core CPU.

"Certain accessory"? What is it, a plug-in vibrator? Just tell us what this "accessory" is. I doubt you'll find any laptops that are built with what you want.

The 945 chipset was the start of mobile dual-core processors, and I'm almost 100% sure that mobile chipset was only mini-PCI-E for the new Centrino platform.

You might be able to find a laptop with a docking station and PCI slot built into the docking station. Maybe they also sell adapters to go from mini-PCI to regular PCI.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

So have anyone ever come across a notebook which can take an Intell or AMD dual core processor and has a 'mini-PCI' slot instead of newer 'mini-PCI Express' slot?

Regards,
