Need a hand in NE Ohio

Ok, so I built a new HTPC for my parents with the following specs:

AMD A8 6600K MSI FM2-A75IA-E53 Mobo (Rev. 1.1) WD Green 2TB HDD 2x4GB Generic DDR3 1600 LG DVD-RW Drive Corsair CX430 PSU Coolermaster Elite 130 mini-ITX case

After putting everything in the case, I noticed the system wouldn't post. Hopped online and saw that the mobo requires a BIOS update before it will accept a Richland APU. I was a little miffed about this since Microcenter sold the APU and mobo together as a bundle, but it was a nice deal and should be able to work just fine. The only problem is that I don't know a soul with a TRinity based APU I could borrow for the 5 minutes it would take to mount and flash a suitable BIOS for the APU I purchased. I'm in Kent Ohio, so if anyone in the Canton/Akron/Cleveland area can lend a hand (well umm, an APU), I'll throw in a beer or two for your time.

Hi in Ohio:

You sound very experienced, so I will defer to what you think you need to get the new, generous gift system to post; all I could find was below on Newegg re this board, which was pretty depressing.

And yes, if they sold this board with that APU as a package, nobody should be having the problems you are, assuming all you need is the bios update. I never heard of such. And, in the event some human in proximity to you did have the chip, wouldn't it be in their system?

Pls see the complaints, the number of RMAs (I sorrreee responses form the Mfg); the guy who has a related chip and he's not sure if that the system won't post is bios or driver related. And a board falling APART? Seriously?

I dunno, a devoted son doin all this work, my take is you deserve better, along with many of those who posted on Newegg.

PS: scroll thru the comments posted on Newegg re yr board, you will find infinite responses to the complaints by the Mfg., all of which include their phone # in CA and email. Might not hurt to call!!!!

I would go back to Microcenter with the board and APU and tell them to flash the board for ya or tell them to stick it up their a$$! :awe:

I will say that the OP is a brave person. HTPC for parents? My parents are fine working the cable box, but a HTPC? *shudders*

Babe? Hope you're a chick, lol. I'm not generalizing, I specifically said my parents.

I am totally a chick. And truly sorrrrreeee, I missed that!!!!! 😳 But...U did say "for parents?" And that is where I felt the generalization. You then, referred to yours. But sorry for not being clear on what U meant.

I now get most people who live in my building....sooo many work on Wall street and have uber disposable incomes (blood money), Fausts, also borrrrring, their maids arrive and clean and do their laundry.....are total Apple people. Bet there are more macbooks in this building than anywhere. Forget, BOSE everything. Forget they need a Staff member just to change a litebulb.

And also kinda get now, most of them know ugatz about computers. I mean....NOTHIN. Nor, do they CARE TO LEARN. And even if they knew squat, U think any of them would build a rig for their parents? Ne-vah.

I try not to be a judgmental be-atch about this, but sometimes I can't help it.
