Crysis
Crysis Warhead
Crysis 2
Crysis 3 (when it is released)

COD all versions including mw3

Battlefield3

NFS the run

his native monitor resolution is 1024x768 and he can go to a maximum of 1280x1024 resolution on his 15" monitor. He just wants to game and doesn't care about maxing out details.. Kindly advice a good GPU for the budget

We need to know the prices of GPUs where you are at.

Good candidates are:

HD5770
HD6750
HD6770
HD7750
GTS 450

Or for even more value look for a used GTX460 1GB, HD6850.

The following are the prices:

HD 5770 8000 INR (rarely available)
HD 6750 7800 INR
HD 6770 8500 INR
HD 7750 7600 INR
GTS 450 7000 INR

GTX 460 is not available here, but HD 6850 is costing about 11000.

Kindly note that he has a no name 450W PSU and he can afford only a GPU at this point of time. His PSU can give a max 19A on +12V rail. Also consider his resolution, 1024x768

Look on ebay find a used 5770. Should be perfect for him, still a little overkill for that liquid hot magma cpu....

What about a nVidia gt 520 or a radeon 6570? will they be good enough to run those games at medium to high settings at that resolution?

I wouldn't suggest anything less than the 6670 Jaydip linked. If you can find a GDDR5 version within his budget, it is a better card.

In that price range I would really first consider the used market.

EDIT: I have to ask, does he have a PCI-Express 16x slot?

I have no idea about that, but do you think the card is good enough with the current set-up for my friend to play the games like Crysis 2 and BF3?

even at 1024 x 768 the HD 5670 with GDDR5 can play BF3 or Crysis 2 only at medium settings.

For 90 bucks Those games you mentioned will run on a 9800 GT and be 10fps

Unless you play @ 800x600

spend a little more and get him a 460 1GB then his fps will be 60fps avg.....
