I need a host that has reliable service, at least 95% uptime, and cheap prices...

so far:

*cihost.com <-- Professionalism to the max with this company... Outstanding service... Huge 500mb space!! Expensive prices... Oh what to do?

*Phpwebhosting.com <-- Excellent Price! only 125mb of space... fee is reasonable.. Like this company, but space is soo little...

*iPowerWeb.com <-- dont' know anything about this company... not sure what to do..

Please help a brother out... I need to make my site ASAP! Any recommendations would be helpful.

eh?
phpwebhosting offers way more than 125mb...
they basically offer "unlimited space and bandwith" as long as it's reasonable, and you don't use the space for porn or warez.

trust me, I have been with them for a year. their service is ex-cel-lent. I don't want to sound like a salesman, but their tech support is the fastest i've ever had to deal with, offline or online. they rarely go down, and if they do it's for a short period of time.

it's cheap too.

honestly, i wouldn't recommend any other webhosting company on the web. (unless you run a big, bandwith-hungry, website)

*salesman voice again*

phpwebhosting offers all of those...anything a *nix server can offer, it has.

so if you want asp, and other NT features, don't go with them

Since this is the General Hardware forum not Off-Topic or Hot Deals, I'll go ahead and recommend:

Cyberwings!

CEO Shawn's comin' back, with dually non-xeon P4's and 15,000 RPM IDE drives!! He's got his own data center and he knows how to use it! (Aside from a pesky bad cable or two.)

[that actually would be hardware-related, if CEO Shawn would let us in on where to buy 15K RPM IDEs :) ]

Phpwebhosting offers unlimited data transfer, 125mb space + more if you need it, $9.95/month... Can any other deal out there beat this???

Dixiesys has been my host for 2 months now and I've had absolutely no problems with them. Cheap, fast, reliable service and they get the accounts set up ASAP.

I've had a different experience with phpwebhosting tech support. We had a problem over at tinyminds.org (previously hosted by phpwebhosting...we moved off there a few weeks ago), contacted phpwebhostings tech support. Waited 3 days or so...no reply. The only way we could get a reply to our trouble ticked was by going through the sales staff (who returned our e-mail the same day we sent it by the way).

When we got a reply from them, they never actually told us what was wrong (that took another week of sending them e-mails)

Needless to say, we're no longer with phpwebhosting. Who knows, we might have had a bad experience...but its one I'm not willing to risk repeating.

Another vote for Dixiesys from a satisfied customer. I've been with them since the beginning of the year and I've had zero problems. Support ticket turnaround has been very quick for the few times I've had to use it, and their support forums have been very helpful. I paid less than $40 for a year's worth of hosting, and compared to some other webhosts I've been with I've definitely gotten my money's worth.

PHPwebhosting.com is awesome - it's a bit more expensive than Dixiesys, but undoubtedly, it offers a great many features.

I'd not host with anyone else.

i'm am SOO going with phpwebhosting.com.. only reason is because for the same price as dixie, i get more benefits with PHPwebhosting.. ie: unlimited bandwith and 125mb space (they give you more space on request..)

95% uptime isn't reliable. That allows for over 2 weeks (18.25 days) of downtime per year. My home cable connection is FAR more reliable than that.
