Need a good pc strategy game to play, something like myst

So, im in this mood to play a good strategy game, but myst is just so old and its a big slideshow - i can't bring myself to play it. Anyone know of a good fun game to play similar to myst but newer? I looked into Myst4 - Uru, but ive read i need to know the storyline to myst to play it. *shrug*
