Yeah i didn't give that much thought till I started looking at them. I need non-plug type cause I need to be able to hear co-workers or my phone. I know they don't produce good sound quality, but I know I'm better off finding a decent pair than picking up some 5-10$ crap from best buy 🙂 Also I'll be using them outside work.

i coiled mine up and it sits right on top of my mp3 player, never bothers me

You guys seem to be forgetting that the OP is looking for "non plug" earbuds. Just by the way, I briefly listened to some 71's and they sounded worse than my ipod buds. They didn't have a snug fit for me though, so that might explain it.
