I need a real good video card for my new rig p4 2.4b gigabyte 8pe667 ultra. from my research it looks like the Albatron geforce 4 ti4200 tubro 128mb would be an excellent card for the money. what do you guys think about this card? would i need extra fans in my case to keep this card cool.

every card from now on has adequate cooling to work with.

I'd go for something with some more muscle for that P4. Ti4600 would be good or even a radeon 9700

You asked for a "real good" card.

Get a Radeon 9700 pro.

Yes, the Ti4200 is a good card for the money. But in the overall scheme, its not "real good" when compared with the best.

Surely it does cost more. It's your call....Yes, the Ti4200 well be just fine and dandy now, however, down the road going with the Radeon could save you from premature upgrading.

I recommend buying an MSI GeForce4 Ti4200, slap a different fan on top of it and you can overclock the little guy to as fast as a Ti4600 or maybe more. This is of course based on the fact you mentioned a Ti4200 from your original post and it makes sense you were trying to stick to a price point based on the Ti4200 series of cards.

My 2 cents,

the TI4200 is more in my price range. the 9700 may be good for me as far as i would not probly need to upgrade for a long time. is the MSI better than the Albatron Geforce 4.

Reports say the MSI is faster than the Albatron but only by a hair. I have heard that the MSI is a better overclocker than most out there. I have one ordered and waiting for it to be delivered.

The stock fan could provide enough cooling, but I decided to go with Thermaltake's GeForce4 video card chipset cooler.
