Need a gigabit wireless router! Help me find one!

I'm trying to find a wireless N router with at least 8 gigabit LAN ports. Anyone have a suggestion? I can't seem to find one. I'd like to keep it in the $200 range. All of them I find only have 4 wired ports.

Thanks

What about just getting a second wired Gigabit switch? They're usually under $30 these days, and sometimes under $20.

You can Not find one because even the "grabby" marketing people know that it is cheaper and better to have a regular Router with s standalone Giga Switch.

Since I have so much money left after your guys excellent suggestion....which N router is the hot ticket today? As you can tell, I haven't been keeping up with the latest and greatest. Life has me far too busy the last few years. 🙁

I also do some gaming, so I'd like one that has the "priority" bandwidth option. That way I won't get interrupted by the rest of my network traffic.

Thanks

I just got a Netgear WNR3500L Gigabit N router that I like a lot... it even has USB port on it that allows you to plug in a drive and create a NAS box.

Ahhh....I was just browsing newegg and saw the USB port. That's a cool "newer" router feature, something this old dog didn't know until now. Thanks

Looks like 450Mbps is the current top speed, the WNR3500 maxes at 300Mbps. Am I falling for marketing hype or is 450 really achievable? Also, isn't an external antenna better?

Never mind of the 450Mbps, I see it's just Trendnet's tri-band....300Mbps is fine. Wouldn't you need a triband wireless adapter to hit those speeds anyway?

I have that router and i swear by it. Granted, there's no DDWRT out yet for it, but still, it's a rock solid router, and i would recommend it to anyone who asked.

Have owned mine for almost a year now, and i have had ZERO issues with it. Rock solid reception on both the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands, and i get clean 5 bars all the way in the upstairs opposite corner of the house.

I currently have a Netgear 8 port 10/100 router that's almost 5 years old. I've owned about 6-7 different routers over the years and it's lasted the longest. Not only that, it has NEVER required a reset....which is amazing. I think I want to stick with Netgear.

PS - I thought I saw a review last night that claimed DDWRT was available now for it. God, I'm so far behind in tech I only learned about DDWRT last night. LOL

Thanks

I have that router...it is the ONLY True Simulatenous Dual Band Wireless-N router by netgear... it operates 2.4GHz at wireless-N and 5GHz at wireless-N... way better than the Cisco E3000... only negative thing about the WNDR3700 is you cannot manually set the 2.4GHz bandwidth to have 40MHz channel width - which allows only wireless-n devices to connect and allows you to fully utilize true wifi-n speeds. The 5GHz bandwidth already operates at 40MHz channel width...

Also the 450Mbps and 300Mbps throughput speeds are all theortical (marketing gimic?)... I was never able to achieve any of those throughput speeds...

I want to thank everyone for their help! I bought the NETGEAR WNDR3700 and I love it! NE had a bundle deal with their dual-band wireless adapter ($20 off) so I bought both. I got the adapter working on my netbook last night and I'm getting 260-280Mbps with it. Pretty darn close to the advertised 300Mbps.

I was also able to prioritize by MAC so that my gaming PC gets the highest bandwidth priority. SUPER FEATURE! I also added a 2TB drive to the USB port on the router and now I have a pseudo-NAS setup for media files and sharing.

The new setup gave me 12 RJ45's and I've already filled 10 of them! I have two more CAT5 lines to run. In my family room I need 3 lines for PC, TV and BluRay player...then I'll be maxed out.
