Need a free audio in recorder/mp3 recorder

Hi I was hoping to find a free microphone input recorder that will also convert the files to mp3 without losing much quality. I have tried a couple that was shareware and only recorded like 40 seconds or less of inputs. And the files are mostly either too big or quality being worst then its suppose to be.

Thanks any suggestion of programs is welcomed.

Hello again.

I got the solution. Harddiskogg with lame encoder. Does the trick pretty well. Files are like about 4 mb for a 3 and half minute song.

Pretty nice and easy. If anyone needs to know how to do it. This is how, go to download dot com and download harddiskogg, which is free. And then Download any lame encoder that you can lay your hands on and then put that in your harddiskogg folder and "BAM" your own audio in recorder that records in mp3 format. Awfully cheap way to record stuff.
