Hi there
I would like to know if there are any flat screens out there that are good for games.
PLaying at high refresh rates...
any Brands and Models in particular...
Is Samsung Ok???
I am into 17-19 Inch........ screens....

I know, CRT are better but i have got to go with a Flat Display.

Replies are appreciated...

Just look for any monitor with a response time less than 25 ms and it should be adequate for most needs. I don't have a 17-19'' LCD, but most people here seem to like Samsung, so it should be a pretty safe bet.

If you scroll through, I remember there use to be a thread about this once every other day.

LCDs can be OK for games, but most of them suffer from slight ghosting when scrolling or moving a cursor quickly. That bothers some people. Samsung is one of the better ones in that area - provided you don't get their cheapest model in a given size.

There are many perfect flat CRT monitors out there too, and they will look much better than an LCD for games.
Look at the Sony CPD-G420s or the Samsung 900NF (both 19").

If you use the search function for "lcd" you'll get a number of results. One thread in particular goes in depth about lcds for gaming. Of note: you want the lowest response time you can get, and most people who've used them for gaming like them.

also important is to look at them before you buy them to see which one you like; it's usually something of a personal decision.

oh, and you want dvi and no speakers.

Review here.

snippit from the review

With an amazing 12ms rise and 4ms fall pixel refresh rate; the Hitachi CML174 has a refresh rate of 3-4x faster compared to most brand new LCD screens on the market (30-40ms is very common today). As pixel refresh rate is THE determining factor for those looking to LCD's for gaming, the CML174 on paper looks far and away to be the best gaming LCD yet. But hey, you never know what we might find once we flip the power switches and enable these liquid filled bad boys.
