need a fast external drive

cant seem to find anything but usb drives. i need a scsi or firewire connection with a fast scsi drive inside. size doesnt really matter. not going to be transported, just has to be out side of the pc.

edit: only needs to be 36gb or so. nothing huge.

firewire is only a little faster than USB2 so you want SCSI. I know there are external SCSI enclosures but you need to match them to the SCSI type of your SCSI controller card, and you need to make sure your card has an external connector.

Do you have the SCSI card already? If so, what kind and what external connector?

If not, is this for a PC or laptop? If laptop, do you have the free cardbus slot for a SCSI card?

a dell precision 670 is on order. we ordered it with an adaptec scsi card, so im hoping there is an external connector. if not we will get another card that has one.

An external SATA should be pretty fast.

i agree, but the boss wants scsi. hes got 2 internal scsi's and wants the same performance.
