Does anyone know where I can download drivers for Aureal Vortex 2 chipset cards any longer? I'm having a tough time finding anything. Most of the sites that I find in a google search are either dead links or they lead you nowhere.

BTW.. I need a driver for Windows 98SE.

TIA,

Sal

Go HERE. You'll have to sign up, but it's free and no hassles.

Good Luck with it.

Doh! I just realized that this is video. I've been spending time trying to find drivers for a Voodoo card, so I had video on the brain.

BTW.. A3D doesn't have anything that I can use from what I can see. Google doesn't pull up much either that doesn't lead to dead links or wild goose chases.

Driverguide is the biggest POS site that I've ever come across. I signed up this morning and confirmed and they don't have a username and password for me. I went back to the site to look for it and they don't have any record for me. Meanwhile, I'm already getting spammed from the sites that they forced me to sign up for in able to download from their site.

I'm pissed off!

Wow... vortexofsound.com is... gone. :( That used to be 'the' spot for Vortex info/drivers.

Btw, someone had some patched drivers for Vortex2's for WinXP put up somewhere. I'd like to find those myself, I recently found and re-installed my Vortex2 SQ2500 OEM card. The problem is, the stock Windows in-box drivers don't support 3D sound. The OEM Vortex2 beta drivers do, except those drivers were written to assume that the system chipset is an i440BX, and if you're running on a more recent Via-based chipset, they will re-program your chipset config registers to do wild and whacky things, like corrupt data, kill the onboard sound, and crash pretty hardcore. Depending. (Trust me on this - don't try it at home. Not good for your data.)

send me a private tell; i've got all kinds of drivers... but .. oh crap just for winXP... (which was MORE difficult than finding them for win9x) ... shouldn't have too much trouble finding them around for win9x... that was the platform they were made for. (the xp ones i was using were a shitty, half-assed version ported over)

Heh.. Old school? My old school box is a Pentium Pro 180mhz oc'd to 200mhz with 160 mb's of EDO RAM running Windows 2K. 2 SCSI hard drives and a Plextor 12x SCSI cd burner and Plextor SCSI cd rom drive. Oh yeah.. Can't forget about the SCSI zip drive. I have USB, built in LAN and built in sound, but I use a ISA Soundblaster AWE64 Gold sound card instead.

BTW.. I found a driver that works. I don't even know which driver it is. I downloaded all that I could find and then started installing them. I finally found a driver that doesn't lock my system. I figure that it's a keeper. ;) I would like to compile as many drivers as I could though, to save for the future. I know that they are going to get harder to find as time goes by. If anyone can send me a driver, please PM me. I'd appreciate it!

Thanks again!
