Need a drinking guide for Europe

Ireland, England, France, Belgium.

Anyone care to give a recommendation on what is good where? Also what I shouldn't order? (like an irish carbomb in ireland)

Here is what I think.

Ireland - Guiness or Whiskey (no mixing on the guinness with harp or bass)
England - Beer, Gin, Martinis
France - Wine... (any beer here?)
Belgium - Doubles, Trippels, and Quadrupels (beer).

I really fancied Hoegaarden when I was in France. It's leagues above the stuff they pass off as Hoegaarden in the states... can get it just about anywhere. (Belgian beer, fyi).

On that note, Heineken is different (better) as well. Kronenberg (the shit they serve at McDonald's) is probably the worst beer ever, so I'd suggest getting past the fact that you can order a beer at McD's, and drinking something that doesn't taste like piss.

You could just try ordering "a beer" and see what they bring you. Though I have to say, in England, you're in the home of ESBs and Porters, so you probably should get at least one of each (Fuller's makes a wicked porter). In France, try to find some small-batch cognacs from the smaller houses (meaning NOT Hennessey, Remy Martin, Martell, Courvoissier, Hine or Hardy). Also, France has some excellent cheese (not for drinking of course, unless you've had too much cognac, in which case drinking cheese may seem like a grand idea). In Belgium, basically any beer you get will be good, but don't forget to try the chocolate, because Belgian chocolate kicks ass. And so do their waffles. So order lots of waffles and chocolate with your beer. They won't look at you funny; it's Belgium.

When you're in Ireland, give some ciders a try (Magner's comes to mind).

Belgium - Delirium Tremens
France, Ireland and England stock beers from other European countries. Go Czech if you like pilsner. Belgian beers are amongst the best.

Alhambra 1925 is an excellent Spanish pilsner.
