And calender. Also it should have good options for adjusting brightness and contrast so I can leave it on all night. And variety in the display size so I can read it from across the room when I wake up at night.

It does NOT need to have good media player abilities. I dont intend to do any listening with it, unless maybe I could put my own nature MP3's on it and wake up to them. That would be sweet. Especially good if the volume and brightness could slowly come up when the alarm goes off, that way they arent shocking.

Any suggestions, that are NOT tablets?

I already know about the Hannspree one, saw the laptops on TFNN and went looking for them on Amazon. Came across the fancy little alarm clock.
Thats when it finally hit me that I dont care much for my alarm clock. Its nice enough with a cool white segmented LED display and nature sounds, line in, multiple alarms, atomic time, CD, AM/FM, but amazingly I am still not happy with it. Need something better.
Been looking at personal internet viewers for a long time, but since I dont know much about them I was afraid to invest in something with apps that needs support.
I wish my Droid had better speakers, otherwise I'd just use that with the docking station.

Last year I got my mom a weather model that has a thermometer you stick outside and it signals the clock inside. Also has a projector she uses on the ceiling. Any time she wakes up she can see the time and temp over her head. She loves it. But I dont think I need all that.

Thanks for the tips!!

I wouldn't trust the Sony ones. I was looking at similar stuff a while back and there were a lot of reviews on the Sony products talking about it freezing and the alarm not going off. What good is an alarm if it doesn't work?
