I am planning to get an e8400 (E0) and overclocking it to 4ghz. I was looking to get the XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler but read some reviews that it won't fit this motherboard. Are there any alternative coolers that's $30 bucks or less that is on par with the XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 in performance and noise level that will fit?

I just ordered this mobo and was planning to get an S1283. I haven't seen any indication that it wouldn't fit. Here are some pics of it in use:

AWSOME find sterling and thanks! I wish I would have read this sooner and saved myself 5 bucks, since newegg just jacked up the price since i last checked.

So far the ones I found that fit on the UD3P are as follows:

CoolerMaster V8
CoolerMaster Hyper 212
CoolerMaster Z600
Thermalright TRUE
OCZ Vendetta 2
Thermaltake MaxOrb
ZEROTherm ZEN
ZEROTherm Nirvana
Xigmatek 1284

I currently have a TRUE Black on its way to me. But I am considering picking up a CoolerMaster V8 and comparing both heavyweights for best of the best 🙂

I may be also changing out the stock sinks on the Northbridge and the Mosfets with something from Thermalright.

I found that the Tuniq Tower will fit on the UD3P as well with little modification. The hold down bracket for the Tower, you must cut off the K8 tits. And it fits perfectly.

As seen in this video here.

Gigabyte UD3P / Tuniq Tower 120 does indeed fit with little mod
