The option present:
A) Yank it - can't, she has roommates. She calls the cops, I get arrested. I get released and this goes on to court. I could possibly win in teh end, but the expense and time wasted by getting arrested for breaking and entering aint worth it... She won't let me into her place, I'd have to force myself in.. committing a crime
b) Small claims court. Still an option. Still thinking about it. there's a 50/50 chance I'd win and I have to think more about the time, effort, and money that would go into this.
c) walk away and take out my anger by seeking karmic justice. i'm really pissed but I don't think i'll see that computer again since she's putting up a fight and has contacted lawyers (i have too)..soo.. my loss, but i need justice that won't get me arrested and won't physically harm her

I'll make that clear. I did not give her the computer as a gift, I lent it to her to use on an editing project and I wasn't currently using the system. I was being nice and I got bit in the ass.. I learned my lesson but, still, I'm freaking angry and need some sort of justice!

i like the idea of taping a conversation with her where she admits that it was on loan but now she wants to keep it (try to get as much information out of her as possible) and presenting it to the small claims court.

It wasn't brand new, but I lent it to her because we worked together (freelance) and she needed a computer for a project and didn't have enough money. In other words, I was a total idiot.

It turned from a month to a "I'm still working on something" to 3 months, to me moving from one neighborhood to another to, well, a year came around quickly.
Have you ever considered filling out a police report? calling the police and reporting it as stolen.

I don't think you can say it was stolen, but it is still a good idea to call them and ask if anything can be done. If that doesn't work, you could threaten her to take it to civil court (Judge Judy?
) and have it settled there. That might be enough for her to give it back to you.I'm wondering - if you were working with her at some point - did you guys get a long, or was this strictly a one project deal?
If you mess up something important (but easily fixed) you may be able to get her to come crying to you... worth a shot.
