Careful if you search for available domain names and you're not going to buy the one you want right away. GoDaddy is known to register names that were searched for but not registered, then offer to sell them for a high price.

Just out of curiosity, why an LLC? For tax purposes I understand, but an LLC with only one owner doesn't really shield that person from any lawsuits.

No. It's the other way around.

For tax purposes a one-owner LLC is a disregarded entity for tax purposes. I.e., the IRS acts like the LLC doesn't exist and treats you as a (unincorporated) sole proprietor. However, a single-owner LLC can make election(s) to be treated as a S-corp or regular C-corp (buty not a partnership).

For civil litigation a single owner LLC has the same shield from personal liability as any other (multiple owner) LLC.
