Need a cheapo stereo receiver...

My dad is putting 2 speakers and a reciver to play like soft no talk radio in a small waiting room kinda place...i need to get him a cheapo reciver under 100 bux that will power some 20 watt speakers....any hints? I can goto frys and spend 99 dollars on their cheapest one but it prolly really sux anyone know any semi decent cheap ones or a good place for em online?

look around for something used. and stick to the major brand names, pioneer, sony, jvc, kenwood, yamaha, etc. stay away from crap like lennox sound, ensonic, or glx (the typical walmart crap). it's hard to design a bad 2 channel stereo reciever, so any major name brand should be plenty good.

You shouldn't get a KLH. You should be able to find several stereo receivers at your local Best Buy or Circuit City at the $129 price point, from major brands like Sony, Technics, JVC, etc..... you may also want to consider a micro-system like this one if you don't already have speakers. It'd be a lot nicer look if this is a place of business.

Aiwa sucks and all, but doesn?t sound too bad, IMO.

Just be sure, if you get a micro-system, any micro system, that it has aux inputs, so that when the CD player craps out, you can hook up an separate one.

If you already have semi decent speakers, just go ahead and get anything, even the KLH, hell, even something from a garage sale. It?s not like a $120 Sony would be discernibly better, and Dad already said not to spend more than $100.

I have an older 140 watt Sony Dolby Pro Logic FM stereo/FM-AM receiver if you're interested (model STR-D511). I'd take say $45 + shipping for it?
