Our first wedding anniversary is coming up.

I want to get her something that's not costly. She's a very reasonable girl and would love anything. (Already have a dinner planned)

What should I get her? $50~? I guess even willing to spend up to $100. Preferably something lasting (but not a requirement).

Maybe a nice pen? She likes to write crap on her notebook for to-dos, etc.

Paper is the appropriate gift material for the first anniversary. How about a $50 bill? :^D

Paper is traditional. Tickets are made of paper. Any shows/events she wants to see?

Nice leather bound "Our First Year" photo album. I think you can make these on Shutterfly or iPhoto.

I'm not sure which I like better; Manahan shops, or Manahan pomes.

Pens make terrible gifts. She might smile and say "Oh, that's thoughtful. How nice! I can write shit." But, she is really thinking, "wow how creative... a fucking pen. Maybe I can use it to make a list of shit I actually want next anniversary." If my GF got me a pen (for any gift giving occasion), I'd stab her with it.

Either take her to a show she likes or something that is an experience. Or jewelry, but since you're being cheap, that won't work.

If she likes to bake or make pancakes/waffles, try the Pampered Chef Classic Batter Bowl 2QT. $25 shipped. Or make a coupon book for chores that she doesn't like to do, but put some effort into the design. She married a dude who looks like Tommy Lee Jones, so I doubt she'd be too picky. But if she makes cupcakes, waffles or pancakes at least once a month, consider the batter bowl.

Yeah, or just get her a vacuum cleaner and be done with it.

My wife is very reasonable aswell. She would much rather we either save our money or spend it on something together like holidays that said she asked for a charm bracelet as a wedding gift and a charm to go on it for every anniversary. I thought it was a lovely idea and it doesn't cost the earth. The bracelet was about £100 and the charms (we have had 2 anniversaries so far) were £50 and £75.

It is something that is nice for her to wear on special occasions and there are loads of different charms you can buy which can be tailored to your situation at the time. For example we bought a bigger house between our first and second anniversary so I got a charm shaped like a house.
